Organised in partnership with UNEP, members of the Junior Board, British Council, SA Ministry of Environment, eThekwini Municipality amongst other partners; the African Regional Children‘s Conference took place in Durban, South Africa in August 2009.
The Conference brought together children from all parts of Africa to learn about and voice their concern for the environment. Approximately 150 youngsters from all over Africa participated in the conference.

The Conference daily themes included: Energy and Climate Change, Waste and Climate Change, Biodiversity and Climate Change.
The Conference resulted in a set of commitments by the youngsters on the environmental actions they would undertake on returning home. These commitments formed part of the youngsters‘ statements that were presented to the UN Copenhagen Summit on Climate Change.
