APRSCP: CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The 8th Asia Pacific Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (APRSCP8)
September 18-20, 2008
Shangrila Mactan Hotel, Cebu, Philippines

The technical committee of the APRSCP8 invites the submission of abstracts for the forthcoming Cebu Roundtable.

Asia and the Pacific is the fastest growing economic region in the world, and it accommodates majority of the world population. In the pursuance for a sustainable world, the APRSCP believes that both consumption and production should be given equal importance.

SCP requires new ways of thinking, new technologies and new systems; and more importantly, strong partnership among members in the region and beyond to forge a firm framework to operationalise such a mindset.

The APRSCP was formed in 1997 to foster dialogue among industry, government, academia, and NGOs in the region to address pollution, development problems and solutions. The APRSCP has held 7 major roundtables in the region to date, with the strong network built in the entire Asia Pacific region.

The 8th APRSCP in Cebu is a unique opportunity to hear regional and global experts present their views on the key issues and risks. This year’s Roundtable will focus on more interactive roundtable sessions, and allocate sufficient venues as well for pure presentation of SCP discussions. This call for abstracts will accommodate the entry article for the latter component.

Conference themes cover:

  1. policy and corporate social responsibility
  2. renewable energy / alternative fuel
  3. water and sanitation
  4. sustainable building and construction
  5. sustainable consumption / production / solid waste management
  6. financing
  7. sustainable transportation and mobility

Papers are invited from interested consultants, representatives of business, researchers, government and community organizations. Papers should address issues relevant to the Asia Pacific region and particularly the policies, practices and recent researches about SCP.
